RBI publishes detailed invisibles data for April to June 2026
RBI released the detailed breakdown of India's earnings and payments for services, remittances and investment income for the first quarter of 2026-27.
Official title: Data on India’s Invisibles for First Quarter (April-June) of 2026-27 · Press Release 2026-2027/1222
What happened
Invisibles are the money India earns or pays abroad for things other than goods: software and business services, travel, transport, money sent home by Indians working abroad, and interest and dividends. This release puts out the detailed spreadsheet for April to June 2026 in the IMF's BPM6 format. The release text itself gives no numbers.
The headline numbers came in RBI's balance of payments release for the same quarter on September 1, 2026. It showed net services earnings of US$ 51.6 billion and personal transfers, mostly remittances, of US$ 42.9 billion. Net outgo on investment income, such as interest and dividends paid to foreigners, was US$ 10.5 billion. Together these large surpluses on services and remittances help cover India's deficit on trade in goods.
What it means for you
No direct effect. Remittances of about US$ 43 billion in one quarter show how much families in India rely on relatives working abroad.
What it means for businesses
IT, consulting and other service exporters are India's biggest foreign currency earners, and this data shows the detail by type of service.
