What happened
In the underwriting auction on October 1, 2026, Primary Dealers bid to underwrite the extra part of each bond sale, and RBI set the commission they will earn. Together they covered the whole ₹33,000 crore: about half through compulsory minimum commitments and the other half through bids.
The commission rates, in paise per ₹100, were 1.97 for the 6.20% bond due 2029, 0.85 for the 6.57% 2033, 0.64 for the 7.63% 2056 and 0.87 for the 7.50% green bond 2056. That is a small fee. This is routine.
