Official title: Result of the Second Overnight Variable Rate Reverse Repo (VRRR) auction held on October 05, 2026 · Press Release 2026-2027/1248

What happened

RBI held the second 1-day VRRR auction on 5 October 2026. It had offered to borrow ₹50,000 crore. Banks offered ₹10,142 crore, RBI accepted ₹10,142 crore, and the cut-off rate and weighted average rate were both 5.24%.

Only about a fifth of the amount was taken, which suggests the morning round had already absorbed most of the spare cash.
